It is, first, a small luxury hotel. Nine rooms and suites, a heated pool, a spa, a dining room and a garden — held to a scale where the staff learn your name by the second morning. The house was made for people who would rather be inside it than outside of it, and it behaves accordingly: quiet, unhurried, a little hard to find on purpose.
It is, second, one of the more exclusive addresses on this stretch of coast — a private members' club wrapped around the hotel. Members arrive by invitation or by written application, read carefully and answered always. Non-members can still stay: the bedrooms are open to hotel guests, who share the pool, the spa and the long table at breakfast.
